As gamers, we all have those games in our Steam library that we’d rather not display—whether they’re guilty pleasures, unfinished titles, or simply ones we don’t want to be reminded of. Luckily, Steam allows you to hide games from your library without permanently removing them. This guide will walk you through the process, step by step.
There are several reasons why you might want to hide certain games from your Steam library:
Now, let’s dive into how you can hide your Steam games.
Launch Steam First things first, launch your Steam client and make sure you’re logged in. Click on the Library tab at the top of the screen to access your game collection.
Locate the Game You Want to Hide Scroll through your library until you find the game you’d like to hide. You can either manually search through the list or use the search bar located in the top left corner of the library window.
Right-Click the Game Once you’ve found the game you want to hide, right-click on the title. This will bring up a drop-down menu with several options.
Select ‘Manage’ From the drop-down menu, hover over the Manage option. This will open a submenu.
Choose ‘Hide this game’ In the submenu, you’ll see the option to Hide this game. Click it, and the game will disappear from your library’s default view.
Once a game is hidden, it doesn’t disappear forever! You can still access your hidden games when needed. Here’s how:
Open the Library Menu At the top of your library, click on the Library menu that shows your game categories (e.g., All Games, Installed, etc.).
Select ‘Hidden’ In the drop-down menu, you’ll see an option called Hidden. Click on this to reveal all the games you’ve hidden from your main library view.
Unhide a Game To unhide a game, simply right-click on it in the hidden category, hover over Manage, and select Remove from hidden. The game will return to your regular library.
If hiding games isn’t enough, Steam offers the ability to organize your games into categories. This way, you can sort games into different folders like “Completed,” “Backlog,” or “Multiplayer.” To do this:
This method can help you maintain order while keeping certain games visible if you need them for quick access.
Yes! Hiding a game only removes it from your visible library. You will still receive updates, achievements, and notifications related to that game.
While hiding games from your library keeps them out of sight from yourself, it does not affect what your friends can see. However, you can set your Steam profile to private or adjust visibility settings so that others cannot see your game activity.
Yes, if you want to completely remove a game from your account, you can choose to permanently delete it. This can be done through Steam Support, but keep in mind that this action is irreversible, and you’ll have to repurchase the game if you ever want to play it again.
